LONDON, March 10 (Xinhua) -- George Martin, music producer of the British famous music band the Beatles, died Tuesday at 90, according to his management company.
Adam Sharp, founder of CA Management that represents Martin, said he passed away "peacefully at home" in Britain, adding that the producer "was recognized globally as one of music's most creative talents and a gentleman to the end" in his seven-decade music career.
Born in London on January 3, 1926, Martin took an interest in piano playing and orchestra broadcast from an early age. He became famous for his seven-year cooperation with the Beatles, when he has helped it top the billboards often with refined expertise, daring composition and recording technology since 1962.

It was Martin that sped up the tempo of "Please Please Me," added a string quartet to "Yesterday," allowed backward tape loops on "Tomorrow Never Knows," and used a sitar on "Norwegian Wood".
His talent reached a pinnacle in 1967, with the ingenious oversight of the "Penny Lane" and "Strawberry Fields Forever" single, and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," an album that often tops the lists of greatest ever.
Industry experts said their partnership, in which Martin acted more like a mentor than a partner to the four members, has created the term "Beatlemania" and changed the vision of popular culture and youth spirit at the time.
The Beatles member Paul McCartney said in a statement that Martin was "like a second father" to him.

"From the day that he gave The Beatles our first recording contract, to the last time I saw him, he was the most generous, intelligent and musical person I've ever had the pleasure to know," he said.
After the Beatles' breakup in 1970s, he has also worked with famed singers such as Celine Dion and Jeff Beck.
He fruitful production include Elton John' s updated version of "Candle in the Wind," which was done in remembrance of Princess Diana in 1997, and one of Paul McCartney's most highly recognized solo albums "Tug of War."
Martin officially retired at 83 in 2009. Over his career, he has won almost all the honors in the music world. "Sgt. Pepper" album he produced won the Grammy's album of the year in 1967; Martin himself was later given a Grammy Foundation Leadership Award. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.
